The newest album by Rosetta West, "Night's Cross", is a strange and thrilling pilgrimage through blues rock seasoned with elements of psychedelia and world folk. Labyrinth probably comes fantastic after undergoing this much darker, heavier turning point, not to mention the mystical and spiritual overtures that so much have always been essential to the band's trademark. The album will be released on January 16, 2025.

From the very first track, the bluesy foundation is unmistakable, pulsing through each song with raw energy. Joseph Demagore’s vocals are a highlight his voice carries the weight of a seasoned storyteller, weaving emotion, wisdom and a touch of mystery into every lyric. His delivery, paired with the band’s intricate arrangements, gives the album an almost hypnotic quality. The psychedelic elements are particularly strong here, with reverb-soaked guitars, swirling organ lines and deep resonant bass-lines courtesy of Jason X. Meanwhile, Nathan Q. Scratch’s drumming adds a primal, earthy pulse that grounds the album’s ethereal tendencies.

"Night's Cross" is, without a doubt, heavier and gloomier than before, but at the same time, it plays host to several other moments; soft, intimate and introspective. The alternation of riff-heavy rock songs with folk ballads creates emotional tension and releases which hold the listener spellbound. Among the most important elements of the album, is the production by Jason X. Everything on every track has been painstakingly given individual treatments, as it were, underscoring the themes of mortality, transformation, and mysticism that are integral to the entire record.

The "Night's Cross" album is more of a cinematic experience than merely a song collection, it immerses the listener in vivid soundscapes. Rosetta West's defiance of convention is reflected in the music; thus this is mandatory for every blues rock aficionado with a psychedelic bent. Get it; this one is worth it, a rare find.
